With the Walk just five weeks away, I was aware that I had yet to manage a 30 mile walk, and so I set out to try to get close. Going for my tried and trusted Cycle Path, I resolved to change the route and take in the third spur as well where it splits at Mangotsfield Station up to Westerleigh. I set off early on a beautiful day and walked at a good pace up the steady climb out of Bristol to Mangotsfield Station.

At Mangotsfield Station is where I changed it up however and took the left lane and followed the path out to the Ring Road near the Pucklechurch turn and then followed the joint CyclePath/Dramway route out the Westerleigh.

It actually comes out about just under half a mile from the Westerleigh Road by the Oil Refinery and the railway tracks go almost a mile in to under the M4 where the huge storage containers are.

Heading back the way I went (four miles up, four miles back to Mangotsfield Station and I took the left turn again, this time towards Bitton and Bath and downhill.

By the time I reached Bitton however I was struggling again and I had walked about a mile down the path towards Bath and I felt that another eight there and back would be too much, so I turned off across the fields towards Keynsham where Fry Club JFC had wandered two years earlier on a sponsored walk up Kelston Roundhill and back, and I found my way to Somerdale pavilion where they happened to be serving Thatchers cider...

Disappointed to only reach 20 miles again, but it was the right call rather than get stranded in Bath!
