With the Walk now looming very close, Andy took the opportunity to have one more long distance walk, but with a few caveats on the day! He had to stop in Fishponds for a Dentist Appointment and had to be back for a pre-walk haircut!

It was a lovely day and I actually started at the bus stop near Temple Meads which is about half a mile from the start of the Cycle Track, but I was soon there for the obligatory pre-walk photo!

There is actually a nice part of the walk where the walls are adorned with artwork as you walk through Greenbank. It's also surprising just how busy the path is, not just with cyclists and runners, but the casual users who walk a small part just to access one part of their neighbourhood. Anyway, just after this I had to come off at Fishponds and wander in for a mile round-trip and short break for a dental appointment hence the detour on the map photo!

Back on the route, and central to the who pathway is the old Mangotsfield Railway Station. It sits at the intersection of the Bristol/Bath/Westerleigh junction and so whichever way you go or come from, it's a key part of the route.

As for real railways, as previously mentioned the Westerleigh path goes under the M4 all the way to the oil refinery at Westerleigh where there is still rail tracks for delivery. The part of the path is four miles from Mangotsfield.

What I have enjoyed about the walks is finding crossovers, and as mentioned previously, there is a point where the Bristol/Bath Cycle Path comes within about 50 metres of both the Dramway and Ring Road path. There are others, but here they are all visible whereas in other cases it's because two of the walks are sharing a path, or they are near but the view is obscured. Here we are on the Cycle Path, the very thin strip of path to the right of the cream house is the Ring Road path and then just below that, a slightly yellowy green patch of grass is the Dramway path which is not always a gravel path. In the end I had to get back and so had to call it a day, but at just under 20 miles knew that I could have gone further. Let's see what happens next week!
