Andy's Ring Road Walk

Published on 31 March 2025 at 16:00

After the spectacular fail of my first walk with the Blisters, I had to get back out there!  I decided to have a go at following the Ring Road from Hick's Gate roundabout as far as Emerson's Green/Mangotsfield, and then across from there to my house by a direct-ish return.  Outwards was simple with the exception of the area near the Cinema at Longwell Green where the path isn't obvious, however the pace was okay.

Having passed the old Mangotsfield railway station I turned off at Mangotsfield village, used the ablutions just before the Council shut them for repairs, and headed in to Staple Hill and down through St George and Avonview Cemetery by which time I was struggling.

I still had about four miles to go but had to call it there, so walked to the Feeder and along to the Co-op where I finished and bought a drink whilst waiting to be picked up.

Disappointing not to get home, but at just over 14 miles I was still happy.
